Phenix City, AL 36868

Since 1986, The Cora Reid Greene Home for Children has provided an emergency shelter for foster children. In 2011, planning began to create The Greene Door, a program offering all the foster children of Phenix City and Russell County a brighter future through education, recreation, and enrichment programs.

The Green Door program is located at 1606 5th Ave., Phenix City., a 4,000 square foot building leased and refurbished by The Cora Reid Greene Home for Children.

Our staffing includes two full time AmeriCorps members, two part time AmeriCorps members and volunteers from local communities, colleges, and high schools. All those interested in volunteering to help foster children are encouraged to explore our web site link for volunteers.

We have many areas in which you may volunteer, including individual tutorials and assisting with our established programs. We are happy to explore new ideas to promote the development and success of foster children. Let us know what programs you have in mind, and we will look forward to developing those opportunities with you.

Growing up is a challenge for any child. Growing up as a foster child is an even greater challenge. Consider how your time and talents can make a difference in the future happiness and success of a foster child.
